FAQs
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The initial meeting to discuss your project is free. After that...it depends....charges are by the hour and vary by the services you select. Although you will only be charged for the number of hours actually spent on your project it is recommended to keep them small and to break up large projects into phases. It is easier to measure progress on a series of small projects than on one large one. Typically a project has a 10 hour minimum with fifty percent of the agreed fee payable to start.
Q: How do I know what I will get for my money?
A. A formal agreement that clearly states the services to be provided by The Roving Genealogist, background information to be supplied by The Client, and an estimated time frame for completion will be completed. This is to ensure that everyone understands the type of work to be performed in the time allotted. One of the challenges in genealogy is that records are not always easy to find, so it is important that everyone understands how many places to search and for how long.
Q: Will my information be confidential?
A: The Roving Genealogist is committed to following the Association of Professional Genealogists Code of Ethics and Professional Practices. All client information is maintained in files that are not on the Internet. This information may only be shared in presentations or publications for other professionals with the client's consent.
